Legendary Fierce Femmes, Heart are releasing ‘Red Velvet Car’ on August 31th on Sony Legacy – their first new studio album in six years.
‘Red Velvet Car’ rocks hard but also has a deep acoustic side. An abundance of resonant acoustic instruments (guitars, mandolin, dobro, banjo, fiddle, viola, cello, and autoharp), played by Nancy Wilson and the album’s producer, Ben Mink, are showcased in Heart’s unique style.

Girls Rock Girls Rule alumnus Shiragirl is helping in the fight against breast cancer. They have a tribute song called ‘Stomp It Out’ – a portion of the sales of that track go toward the breast cancer foundations Susan G Komen and Breastcancer.org. Listen to the track on the band’s My Space site.

Lilith Fair has launched a contest to a find a local Lilith social media ambassador on each city the tour is stopping. The tour has already started but plenty of gigs are still coming up until August 3rd.
What is a social media ambassador? You get backstage passes, photo passes and a press conference access, and you will be documenting your experience with tweets, photos and videos on the official Lilith Fair social media sites.
